The Fabric of Choice: Cotton

By Gracie Gibbs

There are a lot of options when it comes to picking out your kitchen tea towels. A variety of materials and textures are used. So, how do you know what’s right for you and what meets your household needs?

Cotton is one of the most common and preferred fabrics of choice when it comes to tea towels. What’s not to love? They’re extremely versatile and have amazing durability.

It can withstand many washes, spills, and attempted tears. If the fabric is tightly woven, it is bound to last you for years. A thick band of stitching around the sides doubles the reinforcement and are also very absorbent. Dealing with dirty dishes while cooking is no easy task. Spills are bound to happen and your kitchen can get messy in a heartbeat. There is no better clean up crew than your tea towel!

How should I wash my tea towel?

Taking care of your products is simply the best way to make them last as long as possible. We recommend machine washing on cold, and tumbling on low. Do not wash them with the rest of your laundry, as this can create unnecessary bacteria build up from multiple uses.

What else can I do with my tea towel?

Sometimes you want a little color in the kitchen and can simply use your tea towels as decor (I am guilty of this too). A fun print or sentimental gesture in the kitchen can be a nice addition to your home. Or, simply dusting off the countertops and polishing the fine china works too.
